Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toniz Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American sportscaster. She hosts SportsNation as well as an anchor for SportsCenter anchor. Her first assignment with ESPN in 2016. Her mother is the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since age nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first post as a producer assistant at Univision Miami in which she assisted the production of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Then it was announced that she was hired by the CBS affiliate of St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. In 2009, she moved from Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she was a news reporter on KNVO TV 48 Univision. The stories she wrote about covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as other issues on both the Texas as well as the Mexico border. She was also the Spanish reporter on the newscast from 5 p.m., an anchor and reporter on the newscast from nine p.m. in English as well as an anchor and reporter for the newscast of 9 p.m. in English, as well Spanish reporter at 10 p.m. She would also fill in at times as a news and sport anchor. Later, she was anchor and reporter for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She created pieces for Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS, and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. Aside from this she was also the host and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She was the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. In addition, she served as a sports anchor for Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz Mexico. In Mexico City she was conceived on November 22nd 1985. Her older sister is also hers. Her family left in 1992 Mexico and moved to Miami. In 1992, her parents separated and shortly afterward in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo who was an engineer in the naval sector who passed away in the year 2006 due to kidney cancer. The summer vacation that she stayed with her sibling at Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered the job. Antonietta is a senior in high school and had a clear idea of the path she was looking for. So while assessing if Mount Union was right to her needs, Antonietta went to visit the campus. The campus was beautiful and offered the degree she was looking for. After completing her studies, she was admitted to the university for a master's degree studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked for many years, became an acquaintance. The passion he had for journalism as well as her self-confidence inspired her. She in turn was determined to achieve the standards he set and to not disappoint him.
